Awards include a McKnight National Residency, the Callaway and Fadiman Awards, NEA/TCG, and in 2014 she was awarded a Windham Campbell Prize and was the Honored Playwright at the Great Plains Theatre Conference. She has also received Writers Guild and Edgar Allan Poe awards for The Wire. She is an alumna of New Dramatists and serves on the Dramatists Guild Council.
