Biography
Malcolm MacDonald spent five magical years teaching in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he wrote Coyote's Christmas Carol. As an actor and designer, he has worked with such luminaries as Luis de Tavira, Jose Cruz Gonzalez, and modern dance icons Alwin Nikolais, Murray Louis, and Hanya Holm. Coyote's Christmas Carol is now a beautifully illustrated children's book, and is also published in a Spanish language translation, Coyote y su Cancion Navideno. MacDonald premiered his first play, Wonder of the World, at the Brooklyn Arts Theater. His play, the beetles, was written in a workshop with the great Lanford Wilson. The Hollywood production was hailed by the LA Times as "a sort of mash note to living dreams... emotionally and stylistically as sure-footed as those in Caryl Churchill's Cloud Nine." MacDonald's latest play, Laguna Beach, Ohio, won the AACT NewPlayFest (2015) and will premiere in March 2016. Please check out his Coyote's Christmas Carol website at www.coyoteplay.com.
