Biography

Adam Crescenzi is an artist and an educator who has been making theatre with New York City Public School students in grades K-12 for the the past nine years. He currently works as a teaching artist for Theatre Development Fund, Theatre for a New Audience, New York City Center, Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts, American Place Theatre, and Public School 3: The John Melser Charrette School, where he is an Artist-in-Residence. For the past five years at PS 3, he has taught acting to elementary school students and directed them in productions of his original children's theatre works, many of which were co-authored with his good friend and writing partner, Brendan Boland. Mr. Crescenzi assistant-directed the Off-Broadway premiere of Morris Panych's Vigil at the Daryl Roth Theatre (directed by Stephen DiMenna), and the world premiere of Rick Elice's Dog and Pony for New York Stage and Film (directed by Roger Rees). He has performed with the Upstate Theatre Company in Drogheda, Ireland, and studied with the late Nobel Peace Prize nominee Augusto Boal at the Center for the Theatre of the Oppressed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Vassar College and a Master of Arts in Educational Theatre from New York University. Originally from Milford, Massachusetts, Mr. Crescenzi currently lives in Brooklyn, New York, with his best friend Jill, a number of plants, and, quite possibly, a ghost.
