| Robert Kerr. Robert Kerr's plays include The End of the Road, which was workshopped at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Playwrights Conference in 1997; Right for a Dog, which was produced in The Ensemble Studio Theatre's Hell's Kitchen Sink Series; The Potato Creek Chair of Death (also a screenplay), which was done as part of The Ensemble Studio Theatre 1997 Marathon of One-Act Plays; and Meet Uncle Casper, which was workshopped at the Seven Devils Playwrights Conference and at One Arm Red. Other plays include This the Word, The Secret Word for Today is Carrot, and Six Characters in Search of Water, which have been produced in Minneapolis; Chicago; Portland, Oregon; and Winter Haven, Florida. He also wrote the book for a musical adaptation of Beatrix Potter's The Tale of Peter Rabbit for Child's Play Theatre in Minneapolis. Mr. Kerr was a founding member of Bedlam Theatre in Minneapolis, received two Jerome Fellowships from the Playwrights' Center in Minneapolis, and had two plays produced in the Foundation of the Dramatists Guild's Young Playwrights Festival (one of which was published in Sparks in the Park and Other Prize-Winning Plays). He was also the recipient of the Helen Merrill Award and the LeComte du Nouy Award. He graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota and was a playwright-in-residence at the Juilliard School. He lives in Brooklyn. |

Somewhere in the American West, there is a gun set to fire at some undisclosed time before the year 2000. In front of this gun is a chair in which thrill-seekers sit, waiting to see if the gun will fire on them. Michael, a teenage runaway from Ohio, sets out to find this legendary chair of death. On the way he meets Valerie, an elderly woman traveling with her possessive, middle-aged son.
