10 Reasons Why Theater Is Better Than Sports

Here at Playscripts, we love theater. But you already knew that. What you may not have known is that we love sports too. You’re probably thinking, “Sports?! Theater is way better than sports!” Well… You’d be right. Sports are great but they don’t stand a chance when they go up against theater. Here are the ten definitive reasons why:

sports1. Better costumes

Why dress like a hockey player when you could be dressed like a king?

2. Fewer bats

(Unless you’re performing Dracula.)

3. Better songs

Not just “The Star-Spangled Banner” or that “Charge!” song. These are songs you’d actually want to listen to at home.

4. Little chance of getting hurt

How many sports can say that, even after a sword fight breaks out?

5. More dancing

Not just “The Super Bowl Shuffle” aka “Sports’ only dance.”

6. Longer monologues

Not just someone shouting, “Strike!” Sometimes a person will talk for a full minute.

7. Safer on your hands

Clapping only happens at the end, and you don’t have to worry about catching a baseball.

8. Comfier seats

No bleachers. Only individual, cushioned seats for you!

9. Better sets

Not just a hoop or goalpost, unless it’s a play that takes place on a basketball court or football endzone.

10. The people

Who else is gonna get your Hamilton reference? Or not judge you for constantly breaking out into song and dance? When it comes down to it, theater people get you.

But, seriously, you’re going to like what you’re going to like, and this list isn’t going to change that. You can like theater AND sports. Just know, deep down, that theater is definitively better.
