Playscripts, Inc. is an independent publisher of new plays and musicals, established in 1998 by brothers and playwrights Doug and Jonathan Rand for the mutual benefit of playwrights and theaters worldwide. Our exclusive catalog of new plays was officially released in March 2000, and has grown to include 1,860 plays by 912 authors. These plays represent a great diversity of voices, styles, and stories, and have been enjoyed in 107 countries. Playscripts licenses amateur and professional productions, publishes acting editions, binder books, and paperback volumes, and reaches customers through print advertising, online promotions, theater conferences, and our print catalog. Our catalog is shipped annually to over 40,000 recipients worldwide. In addition, the Playscripts website provides a unique and extensive suite of services for playwrights and customers alike. Visitors can search for plays that fit their specific criteria, read lengthy script samples for free, and buy books and performance rights, all with ease online. Playscripts is not an online publisher, however; as with traditional play publishers, we publish books and license performance rights. Playscripts only sells and distributes actual books, never eBooks or other electronic text. Our online script samples are strictly for promotional purposes, and are encrypted against printing. Playscripts is also the creator of Findaplay.com, a free service for locating plays in the catalogs of all major play publishers. |
